History of Hampshire Through 10 Objects
Presented by Tony Cross
For 30 years Tony Cross was a Curator for Alton’s ‘Curtis Museum and Allen Gallery’ as well as being the Keeper of

‘Geology for Hampshire Museums’ for seventeen of these years. Tony also worked for the Open University as an ‘Associate Lecturer in Earth Sciences” for 40 years. With a geology degree, Tony has a keen interest in rocks and their influence on the landscape.

Tony writes that, although he gave up history in the third form at secondary school (to study Sciences), he picked up the odd historical fact during his museum career and considers himself fortunate to have been able to research a number of interesting topics.
