Join us for this ‘self-drive’ outing to Gilbert White’s House, Gardens and his C18 Brewhouse. Our visit includes a guided tour of the House and coincides with ‘Gilbert’s Garden’ Kitchen Garden Harvest Day, when garden crops and range of heritage vegetables will be harvested and the kitchen garden given a seasonal clearing and tidying. Meet the kitchen garden team and ask questions on all aspects of traditional vegetable growing.
Our NHNTC outing begins with a group meet-up in White’s Café at 10.30 am for morning coffee/tea & biscuits (included in cost) and a talk from a member of the museum’s staff. From there, our Group will divide to enjoy an included guided House tour. Get a special insight into Gilbert White’s House and galleries, taking a journey into the ‘Natural World' and exploring the Visitor Centre that commemorates Gilbert White, Frank Oates - a renowned Victorian explorer - and Captain Lawrence Oates, a member of the tragic Terra Nova expedition to the South Pole.
Members will have additional free-flow (non-guided) access to the House and Gardens. The Garden, beautiful all year round, houses a fascinating mixture of restored heritage garden and natural conservation, with signposted garden walks.
There is also the Brewhouse, built by Gilbert White as a place to brew beer and now a modern nano-brewery. You may also like to visit The Jubilee Tap Room, home of the Gilbert White Brewery, situated opposite the House on the High Street, that serves Gilbert White's beer, which is brewed on site.
Arrival: 10.30am. Meet in White's Café for Welcome Talk, Coffee/Tea & Biscuits. Parking will be 'no charge' in the Gilbert White car park (behind the Selborne Arms) providing that a visitor registers their car registration number at the Café or House entrance.

Accessibility: Gravel paths, well-kept grass. Seats in house & garden. Accessible toilets.
Mobility restricted passengers may be dropped off at the High Street entrance prior cars being parked.
